SIDNEY -- The Cheyenne County Fair Board approved contracting with a company that will make ticket-taking easier and more accountable.

The challenge has been finding a ticket-taking system, that can account for cash or debit/credit card transactions, without additional bookkeeping or extensive costs.

At Monday's meeting, the fair board, the board was presented a program with two options. Etix is a company that offers scanning software that can be used on a cell phone, or rental of a scanner for checking tickets, and Point of Sale (POS) devices for selling tickets at the fair grounds.

The program comes with a 3 percent processing fee, and a fee for shipping tickets. A ticket scanner will cost $100 per month per scanner. The board addressed the question of what if a person wants to round up the cost of the ticket as a donation, or make a flat donation. Etix allows a customer to round up the purchase price, or donate through the program. The cost of the contract will vary by the number of POS devices and scanners. Fees for the Etix program will be added to the ticket price.
