Former South Platte teacher takes plea agreement in sexual assault case

CHAPPELL -- Joel Foster, formerly a teacher at South Platte Schools in Big Springs, agreed to a plea agreement in a sexual assault case.

Sentencing is scheduled for 2 p.m. May 25 in Deuel County District Court.

Foster was arrested in September 2022 by Nebraska State Patrol in an investigation of the reported sexual assault of a child. The incident reportedly occurred with a 16-year-old student between January 1 and and September 14, 2022.

The investigation began when NSP received information that a South Platte Public Schools in Big Springs had inappropriate contact with a student.

He was arrested without incident and held at Scotts Bluff  County Jail
