SIDNEY -- Staff and supporters came together Friday evening to celebrate the Cheyenne County Community Center.
Community Center Director Mike Namuth said the dinner and auction brought 122 people to the event. This year's event was held at the Community Center with food and drinks catered by Outlaw Catering and The Rock Sports Bar & Grill, shrimp cocktail by Dude's Steak House and appetizers by Runza.
In addition to the dinner, the auction offered from gift baskets to vacation packages. In all, the auction netted nearly $60,000, Namuth said this morning.
Proceeds from the night are estimated at more than $100,000.
"I just want to thank my supporters," people who attended the event," Namuth said. "It shows us there are people who care about the community and the Community Center."
Namuth said this morning the Community Center Foundation Board is planning toward its future. With nearly 30 years of history, the Foundation wants to be sure it is meeting the needs and desires of the community. He said the board started strategic planning in July/August 2022. Part of the strategy session he called SWOT, Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.
He said the August included a dream list of what the Center could do.
"We need to pare this (list) down and define it, what the community wants," Namuth said.
Since the completion of the report in February, the Foundation has contracted with a sports facility advisor who will do research of the community and how the Center is doing at meeting its interests.
