Authorities arrest suspects in igloo burglaries
SIDNEY -- The Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office reported this morning the arrest of two men in connection with burglaries at the igloos north of Sidney.
On Tuesday afternoon, April 4, the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Cheyenne County Highway Superintendent and was advised of an illegal dumping near Huntsman.
Sheriff Deputies responded and recovered evidence linked to the igloo burglaries reported last week and the one in February. This evidence also resulted in possible suspects being developed in the burglaries.
On Wednesday April 5, a search warrant was executed by members of the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office, Sidney Police Department and the WING Drug Task Force on a residence in Sidney, Nebraska. Several items of stolen property were recovered as well as illegal narcotics and narcotic equipment. Through this investigation, several suspects have been identified and as of this press release, two have been arrested:
John W. Guhl, 38, of Sidney, NE was arrested on ten (10) counts of Burglary; three (3) counts of Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person (Firearm); Possession of Methamphetamine; Possession of Burglary Tools; Theft by Unlawful Taking; Criminal Mischief; Possession Marijuana Less Than One (1) Ounce; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Todd Parsley, 26, of Sidney, NE was arrested on ten (10) counts of Burglary; Possession of Methamphetamine; Possession of Burglary Tools; Theft by Unlawful Taking; Criminal Mischief; Possession of Marijuana Less Than One (1) Ounce; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office believes that there are more victims out there and are asking anyone with an igloo, storage unit, or off-site storage facility, to please check the security of those buildings and please report any burglaries and/or stolen property to the sheriff’s office as soon as possible.
