STERLING, Colo. -- The Sterling Police Department is investigating a suspicious incident that occurred in the 100 to 400 blocks of South Third Avenue on Sunday, April 16.

According to a release from the Sterling Police Department, some time between 8:10 p.m. and 8:25 p.m., a young woman was approached by an unknown male offering to help her carry groceries.

The male walked along side of her while speaking incoherently, eventually taking hold of her hand near the area of South Third Avenue and Phelps Street. At that time, a black pickup pulled up near them stopping, and the victim was able to pull away from the male exiting the area to safety.

The subject is described as a white male, 20 to 30 years old, with collar length “greasy, unclean and disheveled dirty blond hair,” wearing blue jeans and an unknown color t-shirt.

Additionally, the subject is reported to have a mole on his face under his left eye. It is unknown if the pickup is associated with the incident and is described as black with 4-doors, tinted windows, a silver grill and lift kit.
