Scottsbluff man facing felony charges related to alleged Bayard fight involving knife

BRIDGEPORT, Neb. – A Scottsbluff man is facing several felony charges in Morrill County Court related to an alleged attempted stabbing during a fight.
According to court documents, 25-year-old Hojer Galiano-Calix is accused of trying to stab a 40-year-old man during al altercation in Bayard last month.
The Morrill County Sheriff’s Office says Galiano-Calix was reportedly intoxicated during the alleged disturbance, with witnesses stating at the time that Galiano-Calix was injured while the other man attempted to take away a knife in Galiano-Calix’s hand.
The fight allegedly occurred on March 28, and Galiano-Calix was arrested three days later.
He faces two felony counts of use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, in addition to felony terroristic threats and attempt of a Class 2A felony. In addition to the four felony charges, he also faces a misdemeanor count of disturbing the peace.
Galiano-Calix was originally scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday. Because he does not speak English, his arraignment was continued until May 3, at which point an interpreter is scheduled to appear with him.
He is currently free on bond, having paid 10 percent of $10,000. He is not permitted to leave the state at this time.
