SIDNEY - The Sidney High School Future Farmers of America chapter will host a labor auction fundraiser Saturday at the Cheyenne County Fairgrounds in Sidney.

Doors open at 5 p.m. with a brisket dinner followed by a labor auction, where people can "purchase" FFA members to work for them for four hours. There will be a silent auction, featuring a farm set and bird feeder, and a banquet ends the night to announce next year's officers and celebrate the program's achievements this year.

Payton is an FFA member and says the program, which is in its third year in Sidney, prepares members for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture.

"For individual speeches, you go into a room, you present, they ask you questions, and you leave," Payton said. "Team events, you're sitting in front of three judges, you do your thing, you take a test, and then they'll ask you questions. Then you go to the next level."

Joclyn Bertrand says the proceeds raised during the fundraisers will be used to support the program in the future.

"We'll use it with our FFA chapter for competitions, state next year, and the Colt Conference," Bertrand said.

Tickets to the event will be available at the door.
