Commissioners approve CDBG grant for Adams Industries
SIDNEY -- The Cheyenne County Commissioners Monday approved support for Adams Industries' CDBG grant application.
"We intend on constructing a new state-of-the-art liquid fertilizer facility," said Tim Craig, vice-president of Adams Industries, regarding Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.
Craig and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Josh Watchorn represented the company at the commissioners meeting Monday. The meeting was held with Commissioner Phil Sanders on an excused absence. Craig said the projected is estimated to be at about $14 million. The project is expected to add 30 new jobs to the area.
"It's about a 16-month project," Craig said.
He said Adams Industries is applying for a $1 million grant.
"Actually, it is a loan; half of which will be forgivable," he said. "That money will be used to purchase three 2 million gallon tanks."
Monday's meeting included Determination of Level of Review, Tribal Letters and a resolution authorizing the board chairman to sign an application for CDBG funds. Craig said the initial review by the state has been done, "which triggers a brief response time for any tribal entities claiming ownership of the property."
Craig expects the fertilizer facility to be operational soon after construction.
