KIMBALL, Neb. - A 37-year-old man is facing 20 years in prison for the death of his wife, 21-year-old Tessa Ghering.

Willam Shane Serrano of Kimball has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for manslaughter amongst other charges.

Serrano was convicted of manslaughter, two counts of terroristic threats, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in March.

He has been sentenced to 20 years for manslaughter, 10 to 20 years for possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and one year for each of the two counts of terroristic threats.

On Jan. 3, 2022, authorities said they were called to a home in the 600 block of Oak St. for an shooting incident that resulted in the death of Ghering.

When authorities arrived, Ghering was found to be shot and dead at the scene.

Before the shooting incident, Serrano was making threats to his ex-wife and her boyfriend’s mother.

In January of 2022, Serrano was charged with manslaughter, attempted first-degree murder, two counts of terroristic threats, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
