Fire, smoke fill night sky in south Sidney
First responders were on-scene of a single-vehicle garage fire at approximately 8:45 p.m. Saturday night on Legion Park Road in Sidney.
SIDNEY - First responders were on-scene of a single-vehicle garage fire at approximately 8:45 p.m. Saturday night on Legion Park Road in Sidney. The detached garage was located in the backyard north of the home.
Flames could be seen glowing high in the night sky over the home on Olsen Drive while smoke filled the air across the southern part of town.
Fire fighters attacked the blaze from the front and the back of the structure, including having to pry-open the garage door to help assist in fighting the fire. The blaze was extinguished at about 9:15 p.m. with fire fighters continuing to check check for hot spots.
The Nebraska State Fire Marshal's office conducted an investigation Saturday night.
The Sidney Volunteer Fire Department, Regional West EMS, Sidney Police Department, and Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.
