MCCOOK, Neb. -- Heavy rains that started on Friday continued to impact southwest Nebraska throughout the entire holiday weekend.

Hitchcock, Dundy and Red Willow Counties remained in flood warnings throughout Memorial Day, with the warnings set to expire by the end of the evening.

Up to 10 inches of rain fell in the area, causing the Republican River and nearby creeks to flood the impacted areas.

The heaviest periods of rain were Friday, but the continued moisture prevented the flooding from subsiding sooner.
