SIDNEY -- The Sidney Cool Kids Club program recently benefited from Hometown Liquors and their customers.
Hometown Liquor in Sidney presented a check for $1,585.42 to Cool Kids Club. The donation is the result of contributions by customers of Hometown Liquor.
Cool Kids is an after school and summer program.
"Our summer program can be anyone from anywhere, any child," said Kim Hofrock, Director of the Sidney Public Schools Cool Kids Club.
She said the program is available for community children and for children visiting family for the summer.
"We take anybody during the summer," Hofrock said.
Students in the summer Cool Kids Club are provided breakfast and lunch, funded by a grant through Sidney Public Schools. The program is offered on a sliding scale to make it affordable for anyone who might be interested. There are also scholarships if needed.
During the school year, participating students are offered a snack, activities and homework help.
"We'll help in any way we can with homework, which helps a lot for the kids who are at North (Elementary) currently, third and fourth graders, because we have Chromebooks available. Then they can get all their stuff done and go home and spend time with mom and dad," she said.
