GERING, Neb. (KNEP) - The Gering Civic Center will start its search for a new manager.

On Monday, Gering City Council discussed and approved a contract with a Sioux Falls SD online recruitment service called Growing People and Companies (GPAC). The company will be tasked with finding a new manger for the Gering Civic Center and its catering services. Current managers Rick and Judy Keller will retire in February of 2024.

“We feel that we need to have someone to try and see what they can recruit the nice thing is that the person who is leading on the team has about 15 years experience in the hospitality industry,” said Gering City Administrator Pat Heath.

City officials previously attempted to advertise locally on the city’s website, the Gering Civic Center website, and reaching out to people who work in the hospitality field. The city received no applications from this local search. If GPAC and the City of Gering agree on a candidate, the city will pay 33.3 percent of the candidate’s compensation but if no person is found then the City will have to pay nothing.

The City of Gering can be contacted at 308-436-5096 with questions about the search process.
