Fatal jet ski accident at Lake McConaughy claims life of Colorado teenager

OGALLALA - Authorities are investigating a fatal jet ski accident on Lake McConaughy, north of Ogallala in Keith County, on Saturday afternoon.

According to Keith County Attorney Randy Fair, Landon Gressman, 18, of Highlands Ranch, Colo., was riding on a jet ski with a friend when it was struck by a second jet ski at 12:45 p.m. near Arthur Bay.

Gressman was pronounced dead at the scene. The second person on the ski, who was not named, was taken by ambulance to Ogallala Community Hospital. 

It's the first death at the lake this year. The accident remains under investigation. 

Keystone-Lemoyne and Ogallala Volunteer Fire Departments, Regional West Emergency Medical Services and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission responded to the scene.
