SIDNEY - A few isolated strong to severe storm are possible Tuesday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service office in Cheyenne.

The chance for severe weather comes a day after a confirmed EF-1 tornado touched down southwest of Kimball on Monday night, destroying a cinder block outbuilding. Large and destructive hail, up to the size of baseballs, was also reported in Kimball County.

The weather service says the primary threat with storms will be gusty winds and large hail. Winds could gust to 20 mph outside any thunderstorms that develop.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 9 p.m. for the entire Nebraska Panhandle, excluding (Kimball County), northeast Colorado, and Goshen County in southeast Wyoming.

According to the NWS, storm chances continue each day this week, peaking out in coverage Thursday and Friday. Ingredients will be there each day for some of these storms to become severe each afternoon and evening.
