Weather service says eight tornadoes touched down in Nebraska and Wyoming on Friday

A semi-tractor-trailer driver was injured when an EF-2 tornado flipped his 18-wheeler during a severe weather outbreak in southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle on Friday. No update on his condition was given Tuesday.

GERING - A semi-tractor-trailer driver was injured when an EF-2 tornado flipped his 18-wheeler during a severe weather outbreak in southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle on Friday. No update on his condition was given Tuesday. 

The long cone, rain-wrapped tornado near Hawk Springs, Wyo. snapped cottonwood trees, damaged a barn and outbuildings, and broke power poles. It had a maximum wind speed of 118 mph and last 4.72 miles. Along with tornado damage, 100 mph winds snapped hardwood trees. 

Another EF-2 tornado near Gering caused significant damage to a home with debris scattered up to a half-mile away. The twister threw vehicles on the property 50 feet, a small wooden trailer was thrown a quarter-mile away, irrigation pivots were rolled, and power lines knocked down along Highway 26. The tornado had a peak wind speed of 118 mph and remained on the ground for 2.2 miles. 

The National Weather Service office in Cheyenne said Tuesday a cyclic tornadic supercell dropped a total of eight tornadoes in the Nebraska Panhandle and southeast Wyoming on Friday.
