Highway 30 west of Kimball has been reduced to one lane for roadwork. The asphalt patch work that is taking place on the stretch of highway to the west of road 29 is closing alternating lanes and caused NDOT to reduce traffic to one direction at a time.
Work on the project will stop this afternoon but resume tomorrow morning. This work follows improvements made to Highway 30 between Dix and Potter earlier this summer.
The stretch of road under construction today is heavily traveled with commercial traffic and gavel trucks are a regular sight. Some residents feel the patch work s not enough and that a more substantial highway improvement is needed to hold up under the weight of the vehicles that commonly travel the stretch. There are no weight restrictions on the highway, making it an alternative to I-80 for large loads.
