The Night of Hope is described as a "powerful" event.

"There's no other word for it. We have 17 teams," said Kim Phillips, president of the Night of Hope.

2023 is the 21st year of Night of Hope.

"We broke away from the American Cancer Society and created the Night of Hope to keep the funds here in Cheyenne County," Phillips said recently.

The recognition of cancer's impact continues Saturday with the Guns & Hoses softball tournament at the Legion Park softball field. This year includes a double-header with the 987 The Big Boy team facing the winner of the "Guns" and the "Hoses," law enforcement vs firefighters.
