PROCTOR, Colo. -- Caliche High School football players were sweating to the late summer sun in anticipation of the coming 2023 season.

Coach Adam Zink said the team is a mix of experience and passion.

"We got some seniors here, who I think are really good football players. We got some young guys who I think are good competitors. We definitely have some chemistry to work on, but I think we're going to be a nice team," said Caliche High School football coach Adam Zink.

Zink said he is expecting a competitive season with the caliber of teams in the division.

"We play in probably one of the toughest leagues there is. It's always stout. It doesn't matter what the year is. But, I think we're excited to play ball," he said.

The Buffs will have a Gatorade/Powerade challenge scrimmage match with the Fleming Wildcats at 9 a.m. Saturday, August 19. They then host Rangely 11 a.m. August 26 for their first game of the year.
