Kyra's Kisses Car Show continues success
SIDNEY -- Faith Methodist Church was the site of a variety of cars, pickup trucks and motorcycles for Kyra's Kisses annual car show.
Supporters trickled into the event, eventually pleasing organizers. The event started with car registrations starting at 9 a.m.
"Today, it started out slow, I was kind of worried, but as a blessing we have everybody came. So, I believe we have more attendance than we did last (year)," said Sherrie Biberos said Saturday.
She said the goal is to increase the attendance each year.
Biberos is the grandmother of Kyra Eads. The program is in honor of Kyra, daughter of Kaila Eads. Kyra was diagnosed with D.I.P.G. (Diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas). She was diagnosed on Thanksgiving 2013, and she passed away April 2014. She had just turned 2, December 26, 2013.
"During treatments, she received so many dolls and toys she started giving them away. Her mother says the tradition continues after the passing of Kyra," Biberos said.
The car show is an opportunity to show classics, hot rods, motorcycles, and to enjoy a nacho lunch for a donation. The event also included snow cones and a nacho bar, donations accepted, and an RC car auto-cross competition.
Proceeds from the event supports the Kyra's Kisses program. Funds are used to purchase toys for three local hospitals.
