SIDNEY -- Western Nebraska Community College's recently appointed president Greg Dart visited the Sidney campus Friday afternoon, August 25.

"I've been at WNCC just over a month. I'm new to the area, new to Nebraska, new to the Panhandle. I'm thrilled with the opportunity to be here, and to so some of the things that are already going on. There's some amazing things happening in the different communities. I'm meeting everyone and seeing what they've been able to do," Dart said Friday afternoon.

Dart said he hopes to bring people together.

"The biggest thing I'm hoping to bring is an ability to connect. I think one of the things that really makes a community college powerful is when there is strong connections throughout the community and here when I say throughout the community I mean 13 counties. There's a huge service area," he said.

WNCC serves much of the Panhandle with campuses in Scottsbluff, Sidney and Alliance.

Dart was selected from three finalists earlier this year from 40 applicants. He visited Sidney Friday in part to meet with E3 members, and to learn about some of the programs taking place between the college, community and Sidney Public Schools.

On April 23, 2023, Karen Anderson, chair of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee and Board of Governors vice-chair said that Dart's experience with rural institutions and passion for the local community made him a strong candidate.

Dart has been chief campus administrator at Utah State University Eastern in Price, Utah since 2018. Prior to that, he served as the vice chancellor of student affairs & enrollment management from 2014-2018, and the director of enrollment services from 2012-2013. He is finalizing his doctorate of education at Northeastern University, with all but his dissertation complete.
