LODGEPOLE -- The Lodgepole Depot Museum combined forces with the Lodgepole Community Fund and held a fundraiser for the Museum during Old Settlers’ Days on Saturday, September 3.

Lodgepole has seen 99 years of Old Settler’s Days and hundreds of people flock to Lodgepole over Labor Day weekend to enjoy three days of friends, food and fun.

The museum hosted a chuckwagon dinner serving up a delicious meal of brisket and monterey chicken, pasta and beans from The Outlaws in Gurley, NE.

String Fling, a local quartet of string instruments, provided beautiful background music and entertainment for the afternoon.

Activities included ax throwing for the kiddos (plastics of course) and a raffle. Individuals were encouraged to brand their family brands and ranch brands into a board that will be on display at the museum.

People enjoyed the delicious food and the wonderful family atmosphere.

“Folks were visiting and having a great time,” said Gwen Devie, Lodgepole Community Fund chairperson.

An anonymous donor covered the cost of food and entertainment, which allowed the museum to raise several thousand dollars toward the repair and renovation work that has begun. Thank you to the people and donors that came and enjoyed the afternoon at the Museum. And thank you to the group of dedicated volunteers that keep the Lodgepole Depot Museum the wonderful community asset it is.

Old Settlers’ Days will celebrate 100 years in 2024. Mark your calendars for a century celebration a year from now.
