SCOTTSBLUFF - The Sidney Lady Raiders volleyball team faced off the Bearcats in Scottsbluff on Tuesday night. Sidney, who started the season 10-3, have now lost four out of their last five matches falling to the Bearcats 20-25, 25-22, 25-17, and 25-17.

The opening set saw Sidney taking the lead with a 25-20 victory, largely thanks to Karsyn Leeling's seven kills. Leeling continued to shine in the second set, contributing two crucial kills that propelled Sidney to an early 5-1 advantage. The set remained tightly contested, with Sidney leading 22-21 late in the game. However, the Bearcats rallied with a 4-0 run to claim the set 25-22.

Unfortunately for Sidney, they fell behind early in the subsequent two sets, ultimately losing them by scores of 25-17 and 25-17. Karsyn Leeling led the Lady raiders in the loss with 18 kills, while Chloe Ahrens added 15 kills for Sidney.

Scottsbluff was led by Ava Reed, who paced the Bearcats with 12 kills. Ella Foote and Emma Hergenreder each contributed 11 kills.

Both teams are back in action this weekend at the two-day Twin City Invitational in Scottsbluff and Gering. The 16-team tournament includes Alliance, Burns WY, Chadron, Chase County, Crete, Gering, McCook, Mitchell, North Platte, Northwest, Ogallala, Rapid City Stevens, St. Thomas More, Torrington, Scottsbluff, and Sidney. The tournament kicks off with pool play on Friday, followed by bracket play on Saturday.
