Sidney Public Schools presented endowment
Former teacher Sue Kandel is continuing her support of youth and education with a donation from her estate for arts programs in Sidney Public Schools.
By News Channel NebraskaSIDNEY -- Monday night was one of those meetings when the Sidney Public Schools board of education were blessed with funds that include few restrictions.
District Superintendent Andrew Farber announced the estate of Sue E. Kandel made a donation of $10,000 to Sidney Public Schools.
"We are pleased that this money will be used to support the arts at Sidney Public Schools and know that the administration will allocate the funds according to the needs of the various arts areas," Sally Kandel, sister of Sue Kandel, said in a letter to Farber.
Kandel died Feb. 28, 2023 at the age of 71. She is a former teacher at Sidney Public Schools. She also served as secretary for the High Plains Arts Council.
The board approved accepting the donation with a 6-0 vote.
