No injuries reported when live power line falls on tractor
Potter firefighters and first responders were dispatched at 12:36 p.m. November 18 to a reported cornfield fire. Firefighters discovered the incident to be a live power wire fallen across a tractor with a person inside.

POTTER (November 18, 2023) -- First responders were called to a cornfield southwest of Potter at about 12:36 p.m.
"The initial call came in as a fire in a cornfield from a by passer on I-80. Upon arrival, [firefighters] noticed that it was power or electrical related with farm equipment that had gotten tangled into some of the power lines, took down some of the power lines," said Potter Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mark Onstott.
The Potter ambulance was dispatched to the scene, as was the Morrill County Community Ambulance.
He said there was one male involved in the incident.
"He is uninjured. He was trapped inside of the tractor with power lines laying over it," he said.
Onstott said they had to keep the man in the tractor for 40-45 minutes to ensure Highwest came out and de-energized the line.
While he was in the tractor, firefighters communicated with him through the firetruck PA system, explaining to him what firefighters were doing and encouraging him to remain calm.
