CHADRON – Week of Wellness started Monday at Chadron State College, a new campus wellness collaborative initiative coordinated by Campus Wellness Officer Dr. Britt Helmbrecht.

Throughout the week, students are invited to the Finals Fuel Fest in the King Library’s Food Pantry. Snacks have been donated by the Professional Staff Association and Food Pantry. Also, students are welcome to create a self-care package for finals week and the holiday season. Items include sleep spray, sleep masks, fuzzy socks, tea samplers, motivational stickers, self-care worksheets and study planners.

On Instagram (@CSC.Wellness), students can find links to smart money tips for college students and other budgeting videos produced by Assistant Professor Mike Vogl, to support financial wellness.

On Tuesday, two events will be hosted in the Nelson Physical Activity Center. At 12:15 p.m., a group fitness class, Lunch and Lift, will introduce participants to the use of light weights and basic fitness exercises. At 7 p.m., students and employees are invited to an hour of Zumba, a Latin-style dance fitness class.

Wednesday features three events. At noon, the Residence Life Association will host Pie the Counselors in the Student Center’s Scottsbluff Room. Winners of a trivia-style game about campus counselors will get to pie a counselor in the face.

Gentle Yoga will be offered at 4:30 p.m. in the Student Center’s Scottsbluff Room. Students and employees are welcome to participate in gentle stretching and yoga poses designed to reduce stress. Hot tea will also be provided. Participants can bring mats, but they will be provided. At 7 p.m. in The Hub, RLA will host Holiday Painting Night.

Thursday at 5 p.m., RLA and the King Library will co-host Beautify the Library in The Hub. Students are invited to paint art to be displayed in the library. At 7 p.m., students are welcome to compete for prizes in a Mario Kart Tournament in the Student Center’s Pit.

Students and employees are invited to join a restorative yoga session on Friday at noon in the Sandoz Center.

To close out the Week of Wellness on Saturday, students can create a self-care package at the women’s basketball game at 1 p.m. in the Chicoine Center. Students are encouraged to dress in pajamas in collaboration with the Nest’s Big Chill theme. The men’s game starts at 3 p.m.
