SIDNEY -- Sidney Public Library Director Amanda Eastin sees opportunities in Sidney's library.

Not only does it keep an updated resource of books, magazines and local newspapers, but it is also a meeting place for organizations, it has computers for use by the public and a room for 3-D projects.

She also introduced the new person in charge of the bookmobile program.

Heather Rohm is the new Adult Servicer/Bookmobile driver for the Sidney Public Library. Her Bookmobile duties take her to the villages in the county as well as some home visits.

"I drive to Potter-Dix, the Leyton area, and then I go to Creek Valley Storm and take care of the people down there for the library. I have quite a few stops here in Sidney. I go to the day cares, and then I also go to the assisted living and the nursing home as well. And I have a few home-bound patrons I attend to, too," she said.

She said she enjoys the opportunity to interact with children and adults.

"I was really scared at first driving the bookmobile just because it's 29 feet long and I'm only 5'3". So, that's been interesting. I get a lot of jokes about having to have books for a booster seat. It's been interesting. I love the fact that I get to interact with the kids all the time," she said.

In addition to the bookmobile services, the library recently added whiteboard tables in a conference room.

"These tables are whiteboard on top. They're on wheels. They're easy to move. They're lightweight. You can actually just write it like a regular white board, and they flip up," said Eastin.

She said staff are also getting trained on the MakerSpace equipment. Eastin added the library has a very friendly rate for copies and a fax machine.
