DUNDY COUNTY, Neb. (KOLN) - The Dundy County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people accused of stealing 3,000 gallons of diesel fuel on Thursday.

In early January of 2024, the sheriff’s office received a report of a large diesel fuel theft from Kwik Stop Convenience Store in Benkelman. Deputies received photographs of the suspects’ vehicles, which included a white-box truck.

On Thursday, a deputy stopped a white-box truck matching the description on Highway 34, just west of Haigler.

Edwin Quintanilla-Pena, Mishelle Flores and Cyndy Garcia were arrested on suspicion of theft and transported to Lincoln County Jail. Deputies say the three stole fuel from the St. Francis Equity station in Haigler.

Deputies searched the impounded white-box truck on Friday, and 3,000 gallons of diesel fuel were found in chemical totes. According to the sheriff’s office, $10,560 of stolen diesel fuel was recovered.
