Bridgeport seniors reach 100 career wins in subdistrict championship victory over Sidney

SIDNEY - The No. 3 Bridgeport girls basketball team forced a season-high 26 Sidney turnovers and the Bulldogs never trailed in their fifth consecutive sub-district tournament title, 40-33, over the No. 1 Lady Raiders at Sidney High School on Thursday.
Senior Olivia Loomis-Goltl finished with a double-double, 15 points and 12 rebounds, to lead the Bulldogs (24-0) to next week's district final at home vs. Gordon-Rushville. Freshman Olivia Brown added 10 points.
With a win over the Mustangs next Friday, Bridgeport would advance to the Nebraska School Activities Association State Basketball Championships for the fourth year in-a-row. They finished runner-up in 2022 and third place last winter. It would be the school's 11th appearance at the state tournament.
The tip-off time of the Class C1-4 District final has not been announced.
Thursday's win also marked the 100th career victory for the Bridgeport's four seniors: Loomis-Goltl, Brooklyn Mohrman, Grace Dean and Megan Cline.
Sidney (23-1) was led by Carli Black with 10 points off the bench. The Lady Raiders will play Platteview in the C1-2 District Final next Friday. The time and location has not been announced by the NSAA.
Sidney hopes to return to Lincoln for the second-straight year, 18th time overall. Sidney won their first state tournament game since 1984 last year.
