SIDNEY -- The Cheyenne County Fair Board is looking at adding a second night of musical entertainment for the 2024 Cheyenne County Fair.
The Fair Board is still working out the details and names of entertainers have not been released at this time. The board did meet in executive session to discuss Fair entertainment. Board president Troy Kurz said the board is planning on two nights of musical entertainment.
The Fair Board also reviewed a proposal to bring in entertainment including a climbing wall and a mechanical bull. The board is reviewing the proposal; no decision has been announced.
The board did accept two programs that will be sponsored by the Kip Miller family.
A virtual reality (VR) entertainment trailer will be at the fair this year and a hypnotist will be part of this year's entertainment. The VR trailer is promoted to have seating for 20 to 24 players at a time, seven VR stations and one VR aircraft and one VR car simulator. The hypnotist is Rich Holmgren who goes by the stage name of "Twisted Rich." Holmgren has been an entertainment professional since 1994. The VR trailer will be at the Fair for Thursday through Saturday, and "Twisted Rich" will be at the Fair two days.
Michelle Weimer met with the board regarding the Rowdy Round Up Dance Competition. Discussion included where to hold the competition in consideration of other youth events during the week.
The board also met with Kent From regarding the rodeo and the hospitality tent. From said the hospitality tent is a welcome for cowboys competing in the rodeo. From said hospitality is a necessary part of the rodeo experience.
"[In the] Last meeting we talked about a hospitality tent. There's been some confusion, I think, on what a hospitality tent is, and why it is just exactly what it says: hospitality. We want our cowboys to feel welcomed when they get here. A lot of them, I know for a fact because I was there, you ate at Quick Trips, you ate at every place that was junk food. It's good when you do pull into a place that is a place to get a hot meal. That means a lot to them," From said.
From said he arranged for volunteers and the food is provided as well.
