SIDNEY -- Sidney High School juniors Deanna Horst and Dru Weimer were recently selected to receive the Nebraska Young Artist Award.

The annual award recognizes high school juniors who are talented in art, music, dance, theatre or film and emerging media. They were both selected for the award for music.

Students are selected based on their quality of work and are selected by faculty to come to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with their families for a day of activities and an awards ceremony.

During the past 27 years, the program has recognized nearly 1,800 students from across Nebraska. These students were selected based on the quality of their art.
