Sentencing scheduled for April 23

LINCOLN -- Brian Wasson, who previously served as a police captain for the Scottsbluff Police Department, pled to two felony counts of theft by unlawful taking in excess of $5,000.

Bond was set, and Wasson surrendered himself and was booked. His sentencing is scheduled for April 23 in Scottsbluff.

Wasson surrendered his law enforcement credentials in October 2023. He had resigned his position in September 2023. At a meeting of Nebraska's Police Standards Advisory Council, the council voted unanimously to accept Wasson's voluntary surrender of his credentials. The council also recommended that Wasson's credentials be revoked by the Crime Commission.
