Sidney School Board recognizes February students of the month
The Sidney School District Board of Education recognized the February Students of the Month in the March 11 meeting.
SIDNEY -- The Sidney School District Board of Education recognized the February Students of the Month in the March 11 board of education meeting.
The Monthly Performance Award acknowledges other criteria as well as achievement.
These criteria are:
1. Superior academic performance, (or) dramatic improvement of classroom work, G.P.A., or attitude toward learning.
2. Exceptional work effort toward a particular class project,
3. Outstanding contribution toward to the class,
4. Leadership exhibited in the class/school,
5. Citizenship emphasized and modeled,
6. Service to school.
Recognized for the February 2024 Performance Awards are:
7th grade -- Zach Schumacher: Zach Schumacher is the seventh grade student of the month for February. Zach has demonstrated responsibility and hard work in all subject areas. He accepts challenges with a positive attitude and comes to class each day ready to learn and be a good example to other students. Zach completes work carefully and maintains a high GPA. He can count on to give 100 percent effort in all of his classes. Zach is the son of Benjamin and Jessica Schumacher.
8th grade -- KaLea Canas: KaLea Canas has been chose as Sidney Middle School's student of the month for February. KaLea has always been an excellent role model for other students in the classroom. She always has a positive attitude and is more than willing to help others in need. KaLea is always polite when greeting her teachers and fellow classmates. KaLea participates in Cross Country and Track. It is because of these qualities that KaLea is a perfect choice for February Student of the Month.
9th grade -- Ava Witte: Ava Witte has been chosen as the 9th grade student of the month for Sidney High School. Ava is a kind, warm person who always radiates positivity and elevates discussion in the classroom and with her peers. Ava exemplifies what a student-athlete should be by helping others and striving for excellence in her academics. Ava always gives her best effort, is an inquisitive and curious student and stays on top of her grades even while in back-to-back sports. Ava is the daughter of Anthony and Jennifer Witte.
10th grade -- Madison Hawkins: Madison Hawkins has been chosen as Sidney High School's 10th grade student of the month. Maddie is a strong student, she always comes to class prepared, has excellent grades and has had huge personal gains this year. All around, she is a great student. Her willingness to push through rough concepts and maintain a good attitude shows her strong perseverance. Maddie is the daughter of Kory Hawkins and Gina Elsen.
11th grade -- James Kokjer: James Kokjer has been chose as Sidney High School's 11th grade student of the month. James always works hard, and keeps a great attitude. He is polite and willing to help his peers, as well as helping his teachers when they ask. James is the son of Carter and Beth Kokjer.
12th grade -- Matthew Danch: Matthew Danch was chosen as Sidney High School's student of the month for 12th grade. Matthew is a very motivated student and athlete, he always comes to class prepared, and is a leader among his peers. He helps to bring a positive attitude to all of those around him. Matthew is the son of Tanna and Jeff Johnson.
