SCOTTSBLUFF - Power outages were expected to extend through Sunday after a complex spring snow storm stuck Scotts Bluff County this weekend.

According to Region 22 Emergency Management, several streets and roads were closed in Gering and Scotts Bluff County due to downed power poles and power lines. They were encouraging motorists and pedestrians to avoid these areas and use alternate routes.

Power outages were affecting Chimney Rock and Roosevelt Public Power Districts Sunday morning.

Western Area Power Administration officials announced Sunday afternoon that a portion of WAPA's service to Gering had been restored.

The emergency management office asked residents to not call 911 or the Communications Center regarding power outages. If you see a downed power line, do not approach and turn around.

The City of Scottsbluff had power as of 11 a.m. Sunday. Shelters have been setup at the Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff  and The Rock Church in Scottsbluff. People who use oxygen concentrators and medications should bring their necessary supplies with them.

Tri-City Roadrunner bus service is available for emergency transportation. For emergency transportation, shelter questions and concerns, call (308) 633-4467 or (308) 633-4464.
