GRAND JUNCTION- Colo. --  The Colorado Mesa Mavericks defeated the Chadron State College softball team in two games on Saturday in Grand Junction, Colorado, winning 7-0 and 19-5. 

The losses drop CSC to 5-31 overall and 5-21 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. Colorado Mesa improves to 29-7 overall and 27-3 in RMAC action. 

In game one's loss, the Eagles had four hits and two errors. The Mavericks had seven runs, 11 hits and one error. 

The Mavericks scoring began in the bottom of the third inning with a two run double. In the fourth, a defensive error by CSC's defense extended the Eagles deficit to 3-0. 

Myah Arrieta, the nations runner-up in homers, hit her first of the series later in the inning to make the score 5-0. 

The final two runs were scored on an RBI single and an RBI double in the fifth inning, making the score 7-0. 

Tori Haug received the loss for Chadron State in 4.1 innings of action. Preslee Christensen improved to 10-3 for Mesa. 

In CSC's game two 19-5 defeat, they had five runs, nine hits and one error. The Mavericks had 19 runs, 20 hits and one error. 

Scoring started in the bottom of the first inning with the hosts gaining a 2-0 lead on a two run homer. 

The Eagles tied the game in the second inning when a defensive error by the Mavericks allowed J'lyssa Martinez and Jessie Henchenski to score. 

Over the next three innings, Colorado Mesa scored 17 runs to build a 19-2 lead. 

The Eagles added their final three runs in the top of fifth inning. After CSC's first two batters were recorded puts, the next six recorded hits. 

After Lauren Zimmerman hit a single and was pinch ran for by Chloe BrownAshland Baca brought Brown home with a double to left center. 

Mackenzi Kroll brought Baca's pinch runner, Devyn Thornton, home with a double of her own to score the second run. 

The final run was scored when Henchenski singled to right center, bringing Kroll home. 

Kenzi Garner received the loss for CSC in 1.2 innings. Hannah Sattler improved to 7-2 overall in the victory for Colorado Mesa. 

Chadron State and the Mavericks will play two more games tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
