Troopers Locate Thousands of Suspected Fentanyl Pills in Traffic Stop

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested a Utah man after locating nearly five pounds of suspected fentanyl pills during a traffic stop in North Platte.

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested a Utah man after locating nearly five pounds of suspected fentanyl pills during a traffic stop in North Platte.

Sunday, April 7, at approximately 11:00 p.m., a trooper observed a Kia SUV traveling without headlights or taillights on Jeffers Street north of Interstate 80. During the traffic stop, the trooper became suspicious of criminal activity.

A search of the vehicle revealed multiple bags containing thousands of suspected fentanyl pills. The total weight of the pills was nearly five pounds. Troopers also located a handgun in the vehicle.

The driver, Tyrone Cash, 38, of Spanish Fork, Utah, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was lodged in Lincoln County Jail.
