Kimball Planning Commission prepares for pivotal meeting

Monday, April 15th the Kimball Planning Commission will meet in the City Council Chambers at 5:30 pm, and they might be there a while. In a meeting that is open to the public, the commission will take on three housing developments expected to begin construction in and near Kimball this spring.
The Lighthouse subdivision will be developed by Clean Harbors. Unlike the mobile homes at Stahla Mobile Home Park or the apartments across from the manor, the homes and lots in the subdivision are expected to be available to the general public. Lighthouse sits on a parcel recently purchased by the recycling company after it was annexed by the City of Kimball. The commission will need to look at the plans to subdivide and rezone the property and make a recommendation to the city council on if and how the project should move forward.
Antelope Ridge sits to the south of Interstate 80 and the tourism center. It is in currently un-annexed Kimball County. The commission will look at the plans to subdivide the property as well as how the property would be zoned. They will need to make a recommendation to the council on this property as well.
The smallest project is the one most likely to be completed over the summer. The "Mietus" project will place four duplexes on the empty lot behind the Days Inn. The project will require subdivision and rezoning. The commission is expected to recommend approval of this project to the city council.
