KIMBALL -- In honor of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, the Kimball Police Department is giving a shout-out of appreciation to 911 dispatchers all over the country.

Chief of Police Jose Ruiz says thank you to the communications team at the Kimball County Sheriff’s Office for being there for law enforcement and for the victims who call them.

“They are behind the scenes, so they don’t get a lot of thanks for the job unfortunately,” Ruiz says. “The public doesn't get to see that side of law enforcement, but they are vital to us being able to serve the community effectively.”

Ruiz adds that the police depend on 911 dispatchers to relay the information if something bad happens.

“They are a lifeline,” he says.
