KIMBALL -- The City Council approved the subdivision and rezoning of three housing developments at the April 16 meeting.

The Lighthouse Subdivision will be developed by Clean Harbors to build residential single-family and multi-family housing. The property is currently an open pasture across from Ace Hardware.

The rezoning of Antelope Ridge will include multi-family and single-family lots and rural residential lots of 5-10 acres. The subdivision will be located on the southside of I-80, just past the Visitor's Center.

Two community members spoke out about their disapproval of the rezoning.

One individual said he does not approve because there is not enough data to support it.

The second individual said she would like to see the current properties in town cleaned up before bringing in new properties.

She also expressed concern about America losing grassland at an alarming rate to big companies.

“Let’s be wise about our land,” she said. “I’d hate to see grassland disappear because you can’t get it back.”

The smallest project of the three is the Meitus subdivision, which will place four duplexes on the empty lot behind the Days Inn.
