Residents lacking service are encouraged to call the Wheat Belt office

CHEYENNE COUNTY -- Wheat Belt Public Power District reports "Goal No. 1" has been met.  According to the company's metering/mapping data, all occupied residential accounts have been restored.

"This would not have been possible if it wasn't for our amazing linemen and all of the mutual aid crews that answered our calls for help! HUGE thank you to Dawson PPD, McCook PPD, Midwest Electric, Southern PPD, Loup Valley PPD, LaCreek Electric, PREMA,  Northwest PPD and contractor, Premier Power," Kelli Chaon, Customer Engagement Manager, Wheat Belt Public Power District, said in a written statement.

She said Wheat Belt also had a lineman from the Oshkosh outpost who left a few years back call offer to help. Also on the scene were Cole Birkel, retired lineman, Dean Gipfert, Dalton Schilz, apprentice lineman for the City of Sidney, came in over the weekend to help his dad, Wheat Belt's own inventory coordinator, Chris, with materials.

The next step will be to focus on irrigation accounts, and have them back up and running by May 15. In the process of getting these back on, other services will be restored in that process. Contractor crews are scheduled to help with the restoration from here on out. As with the residential restoration planning, this phase will start with the main distribution lines first and work down to the individual services.

Out of the more than 1,100 damaged and downed power poles Wheat Belt has throughout its territory, about 300-400 are left to get back up.

If your home is still without power, please notify our office (308) 254-5871.
