Scottsbluff Wins Gering/Western Conf. Golf

The Western Conference and Gering Invitational Boys Golf Tournament was played at Monument Shadows Golf Couse on Wednesday. Scottsbluff’s 307 team score edged Cheyenne East by four shots to win the Gering Invitational team title.

GERING - The Western Conference and Gering Invitational Boys Golf Tournament was played at Monument Shadows Golf Couse on Wednesday. Scottsbluff’s 307 team score edged Cheyenne East by four shots to win the Gering Invitational team title. Wheatland was a distant third with 328 combined score followed by Chadron at 329. The Bearcats also ran away with the Western Conference Tournament, outdistancing runner-up Chadron by 22 shots. Gering was 18 strokes back in third just two shots ahead of fourth place Alliance.

Cael Peters fired a one-under-par 71 to win top medalist honors in both tournaments. The senior made the turn in one-over 37, then recorded birdies on his next two holes. Peters ended up playing the back nine two-under par to secure the win.

Sidney was led by Logan Johnson’s who fired an 84, just missing a medal by one shot in the Western Conference standings. Cole Hanley was close behind with an 87.
