STERLING, Colo. -- The Logan County Arts League (LOCAL) invites the public to the 3rd annual Art of BBQ Cook-Off on June 28 and 29.

The two-day event draws professional and “backyard” teams from all over to compete for more than $10,000 in prizes. Teams will descend on the Logan County Courthouse Square to cook and be judged according to the Kansas City Barbecue Society rules and regulations. Trained judges will taste pork ribs, pork shoulder, beef ribs and chicken. Judges will then select winners in each category and an overall winner. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Saturday afternoon.

The festival gets under way on Friday, June 28 with the first free July Jamz Concert of the 20th season starting at 6 p.m. ending at 9 p.m. Headlining is The Long Run, an Eagle’s tribute band back by popular demand.

A community meal will be served on Saturday from 2:30 pm to 4 pm. Tickets will be available at the LOCAL tent at the July Jamz concert on Friday, June 28 and from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 29. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for kids 10 and under. The meal includes a pulled pork sandwich with chips and a drink. 

The Art of BBQ event also includes activities for kids, food and arts and crafts vendors, music and more, and takes place at the Logan County Courthouse Square, 315 Main Street, Sterling Colorado 80751.
