KIMBALL — A Kimball resident and employee of a local day care was arrested August 2 for child abuse.

After a thorough investigation by the Kimball Police Department, Ylia Morales, 68, of Kimball was terminated from her position and arrested.

A parent of a child attending the day care noticed marks on their child, after which they brought their concerns to the owners. During the investigation, officers discovered evidence of child abuse toward a 4-year-old boy. The incident in question took place July 29.

“Kids are innocent, and it is our job as officers of the Kimball Police Department to protect them,” Chief of Police Jose Ruiz said.
