Deuel County Fair continues through weekend
CHAPPELL -- The sporadic rain did little to stop supporters of agriculture show up for the Deuel County Fair today.
Today, August 9, is the second day of the Deuel County Fair.
Deuel County Fair Board President Jeff Ortgies said the first day, Thursday, might appear a little slow during the day to the spectator.
Today was busier with activities continuing into the night. Today started with "The Pancake Guy." From then, the animal shows and contests begin.
The fairgrounds were busy with activities as the clock approached noon.
"There's kids games going on right now. There's food vendor trucks going on right now. The bouncy-houses, the exhibits. The 4-H Hall, exhibit hall is going on right now," Ortgies said.
Tonight included live entertainment by "Midnight Rodeo," followed by the beer garden opening.
Saturday starts with the Livestock Auction. Following the auction, the Chappell Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a lunch for the buyers.
There is also a hamburger feed after the auction. Following the auction and hamburger feed is the Nebraska Pedal Pullers competition for youth.
"They can qualify for State at Grand Island at the Nebraska State Fair. After that, there is a ranch rodeo that will be going on," Ortgies said.
The night also includes a free barbecue, and B.J. Jamison closing the night on stage.
