NORTH PLATTE - An Ogallala teenager appeared in Lincoln County District Court in North Platte on Monday to face charges related to a fatal crash that claimed the life of a Keith County teen.

Addison Malone, 18, has been charged with DUI Motor Vehicle Homicide, a Class 2A Felony. If convicted, Malone could face up to 20 years in prison.

Malone is accused of driving while intoxicated and speed when the vehicle she was driving outside North Platte city limits struck a tree and killed her passenger Nathaniel Sandoval, 18. Officers at the scene of the accident reported signs of intoxication, leading to Malone's arrest and subsequent charges.

During Monday’s arraignment, Malone pleaded not guilty to both charges. Her attorney requested and was granted a continuance by Judge Cindy Volkmer. The judge also ordered mutual and reciprocal discovery between the defense and prosecution, which includes depositions and the sharing of evidence.

Malone is scheduled to appear in court again on Dec. 9 at 10 a.m.
