The Kimball Police Department executed a search warrant at 404 S. Myrtle Street in Kimball Friday. The warrant was obtained after reports that a man had ate a pet cat. Kimball police, with the assistance of the Sidney Police department, Nebraska State Patrol and Kimball County Sheriff's Office, conducted the search and an animal cruelty investigation.

Eldon Blake Lewis of Kimball has been arrested and will face charges of animal cruelty and violating a protection order. Police say there is evidence that Lewis killed, butchered and ate a cat. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

"The Kimball Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all animals and urges the public to report any suspected cases of animal abuse," police said in a statement Friday evening.

This was the Sidney Police Department's first time assisting the Kimball Police Department since signing a mutual aid agreement earlier this week.
