SIDNEY — The Sidney community continues to honor the memory of Harold Perkins.

Perkins was a beloved resident of the Sidney area for more than 20 years. His contributions and leadership have had a lasting impact.

Perkins' generous bequest to the Sidney and Greater Area Endowment Fund will support local initiatives for years to come, but it is his vibrant spirit, dedication, and the values he lived by that truly define his enduring legacy. His commitment to service and support for others will continue to inspire generations.

Perkins was a dedicated volunteer, exemplifying leadership through his extensive involvement in both his church and the community. He served as an usher at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for 30 years and was an active member of the St. Pat’s Catholic Foundation and Finance Committee. His leadership also extended to the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce, where he served as president in 1999 and later as an ambassador. He was a strong advocate for new ideas in the community and always arrived with a smile at grand opening ceremonies.

His service to local organizations underscored his dedication to donating both time and talent to Sidney. He served on the Planning Commission and the Airport Authority, contributing to the development of local infrastructure and planning for the future. At the Cheyenne County Community Center and through SALT (Sidney Area Leadership Training), Perkins shared his expertise to foster leadership and community engagement.

In addition, his contributions to the Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC) Endowment Association and the Knights of Columbus reflected his passion for education and charitable work. A member of the Rotary Club and Sidney Elks Lodge, Perkins was involved in projects to improve the quality of life for residents. His participation in Panhandle Senior Golf and the Sidney Flyers reflected his love for sports and mentorship, encouraging others to engage in healthy, community-driven activities.

Through these many roles, Perkins not only gave his time but also shared his skills and knowledge, leaving a lasting mark on the community he cherished.

Perkins' commitment to his community, his generosity, and his leadership will continue to inspire those who knew him. The funds donated to the Sidney and Greater Area Endowment Fund will support essential projects, ensuring his legacy remains a vital part of the community for years to come.
