KIMBALL -- Santa’s Helpers is a group of ladies in Kimball who get together to plan Christmas activities for the community.

Sharon Williams, founding member of Santa’s Helpers, said it was established in 2018 to have an official organization dedicated to planning holiday activities for the community.

“Different people have different ideas of what we should do. We felt like we had lost the Christmas spirit in some ways as we lost businesses,” Williams said. “The last few years we have decorated downtown.”

The group runs on donations – its biggest contributor being Clean Harbors. It first started with the Christmas parade, which has since become its own committee.

They organize a Residential Lighting Contest where people can enter a contest for the best decorated house.

The deadline to register is Dec. 10, and the winner will be announced Dec. 23. The first-place winner will get $50, second place will win $30, and third place will win $20.

If you would like to register, call 308-230-0093.

Santa’s Helpers is also sponsoring the Christmas Movie, Red One, at the movie theater Dec. 20 – 21 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 22 at 2 p.m.
