SIDNEY, Neb. — The Sidney Police Department responded to a report of a possible stabbing and shooting incident early Sunday morning, but an investigation revealed the situation was less severe than initially reported.

At approximately 1:40 a.m., officers arrived at the scene and determined an individual sustained a minor laceration from a broken glass shelf, not from a stabbing. The person declined EMS treatment for the injury.

A second individual was cited for discharging a firearm into the air within city limits, according to the Sidney Police Department.

Authorities confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public and that the case remains under investigation.
