One arrested after pursuit in Dawson, Gosper Counties

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested one person after a pursuit in southern Nebraska Sunday night.

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested one person after a pursuit in southern Nebraska Sunday night.

At approximately 9:00 p.m. Sunday, NSP was notified that a Ram pickup had fled an attempted traffic stop by the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office. About ten minutes later, a trooper located the vehicle as it was traveling southbound on Road 426, south of the I-80 Darr interchange.

The trooper attempted a traffic stop and the driver initially came to a stop. The driver then accelerated and fled southbound. The vehicle continued on county roads before eventually turning southbound on Highway 283. Prior to reaching Highway 6, the driver entered the driveway of a residence and fled on foot. He was quickly apprehended by the trooper and a Gosper County deputy.

The driver, identified as Gustavo Diaz Rodriguez, 39, of Morgan City, Louisiana, was arrested for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest, and driving under the influence of alcohol. He was lodged in Dawson County Jail.

The entire pursuit lasted approximately 30 minutes.
